Just A Lad

by

Win Rainer

(Wife of a Fepow)

No one can tell how a captured young lad in war feel

At the time such dreadful things his life seal

What of his courage and how to survive

A way that would allow him to stay alive

The brutality and starvation and a 12-hour day

This was his agony and no hope lay

This was his life not knowing how long

But his ability to survive was strong

This man who over many years have survived and grown old

Look into his eyes his agony still can be told.
