A Priceless Gift

Nature has enfolded those war years
Softly caressing and soothing those tears
Those lads so badly beaten rest in peace
A different time, a quiet release
To remember those who had nothing but truly gave
The time, in that time, a life to save
A bond so true one lad for another
The will to survive a priceless gift they discover
In one day a lifetime full of pain
Another day relentless, still the same
Atrocities and its brutalities they had to endure
No hope of reprieve, that's for sure
Will one ever understand their dreadful plight?
To try and hold on for a future life, their right
